Now that you know all about the different products we sell you may find yourself asking the question, "So what do I need to purchase?"  The following is an attempt to answer that question.

First, select the control technology you've decided to use.  After you've read over what you need and you're ready to place an order, proceed to the store to make your purchases.

Stand-Alone Control Boxes (SACB units)

Digital Control

If you want digital control, the things you need are:

latest version of DasherD*

one or more digital output boards

Instacal & Universal Drivers software (purchase or download elsewhere)

solid-state relays (SSR's), one for each channel you wish to have

power outlets compatible with the connectors on your lights

heavy-gauge wire to connect all the outlets

output cables that connect from the digital boards' outputs to the control side of the SSR's

something to house the control box parts

FireCracker Control (not released yet!)

If you wish to control X10 modules using the FireCracker X10 computer interface, the things you need are:

latest version of DasherFC*

a FireCracker (CM17A) or compatible computer interface

one or more X10 output modules

Parallel Control

If you want parallel control, the things you need are:

latest version of DasherP*

one or more parallel (printer) ports in the computer (the maximum is 3)

solid-state relays (SSR's), one for each channel you wish to have

power outlets compatible with the connectors on your lights

heavy-gauge wire to connect all the outlets

connectors (can be Centronics printer connectors)

if you use Centronics printer connectors you can then use standard printer cables to go between the computer and the SSR's

something to house the control box parts

Serial Control

If you want serial control, the things you need are:

latest version of DasherS*

a serial adapter*

one or more control boxes or control boards, each with their own SCCB chip*

an ethernet cable or cables to go between the computer/serial adapter and all of your control boxes/control boards

If you want serial control and are willing to do it yourself to save some money, then you'll need the following:

latest version of DasherS*

one or more Brain boards, each with their own SCCB chip*

solid-state relays (SSR's), one for each channel you wish to have

power outlets compatible with the connectors on your lights

heavy-gauge wire to connect all the outlets

small gauge wire to connect the Brain board to the control side of the SSR's and to the serial connection going back to the computer

connectors and communication wire to connect back to the computer and to interconnect all the control boxes (this is the serial link that ties everything together)

something to house the control box parts

X10 Control (not released yet!)

If you wish to control X10 modules, the things you need are:

latest version of DasherX10*

a CM11A or compatible computer interface

one or more X10 output modules

Stand-Alone Control Boxes (SACB units)

If you wish to use a SACB to control your lights, the things you need are:

latest version of the SACB Programmer utility*

a control box or control board*

a SACB chip*

a serial adapter*

an ethernet cable to go between the computer/serial adapter and the control box/control board

If you wish to use a SACB and are willing to make it yourself to save some money, then you'll need the following:

latest version of the SACB Programmer utility*

a Brain board*

a SACB chip*

solid-state relays (SSR's), one for each channel you wish to have

power outlets compatible with the connectors on your lights

heavy-gauge wire to connect all the outlets

small gauge wire to connect the Brain board to the control side of the SSR's and to the serial connection going back to the computer

a connector and communication wire to connect back to the computer

something to house the control box parts
